Cunard Holidays
Pictures
by Jon Mower on 11/28/11Piccies are now up from teh October 2011 Holy Land Cruise - we did not go off ship in Athens so no pics of the Acropolis etc, enjoy.
Well - that wasn't the best cruise we have had.
by Jon Mower on 11/28/11
After such a long time in coming and a vast amount of the year unwell I was very much looking forward to the cruise, the posts of Haifa, Rhodes and Egypt were brilliant, and we enjoyed our time there.
However the same could not be said about the on board standards of customer service, the service in the Britannia dining room was so bad we left and ate in the Lido more and more as the cruise went on. Also teh stateroomservice was not teh best, the fridges were not filled up we had to continually ask, sheets were not changed on the beds when we asked, and the steward went through our wardrobes before we had finished packing and moved things around so he was ready for the next guests (that arrived two days later).
He also started to get the room ready for new guests well in advance, I dont know why he didnt just say get out now and sleep on the deck I want to get the room ready. We felt really wanted and valued as guests that had spent a fortune on the cruise.
We had already booked the next cruise, this one better be a hell of a lot better or Cunard will never see us again, the amount of people complaining, about service, costs and generally most things to do with service, was amazing, never have we heard so many. The day trips, although now getting out of control with pricing, were good and we enjoyed the ones we took part in.
And another on the Elizabeth
by Jon Mower on 04/12/11Yes, we have booked our fourth trip on the Elizabeth, June 2012, around the Baltic, should be ok , nice and warm for June.... hopefully

last port of call
by Jon Mower on 11/23/10
Well, we have just returned from our half day in Gibraltar, and as most people do it was cheap drink that dragged us out into the streets, we got a good bag full, all christmas presents i will add.
It is now 2pm, and it is all aboard time, hopefully we will not leave anyone behind this time, the pilot boat in Alicante came to drop someone off, anyway, we have been asked to be on deck for the salaway with our union JACKS, and we will have a right old sail away today (gotta be betta than Maderia), ayway better go, champagne is calling....
Oh yes keep an eye out we will have some "special" pictures when we get home.
Few days left
by Jon Mower on 11/21/10
just a few days left before we arrive home, it has been an experience, from bad weather to cancelled ports, changes to itinerary other silly little things, i am glad we did it but not glad that i booked it so soon after the maiden voyage.
if i had thought i would have waited until mid year 2011, but hey, we have been here and done, it and enjoyed it, we have had two premiers of plays one better than the other, and lots to see, eat and drink.
Three cocktail parties with the champagne flowing freely and the captain was very kind in agreeing to sign our book we had on the first voyage, once this is over at least we have a year before the next one, and then no more for a while, it is all becomeing very very samey samey.
We have seen a number of entertainers that have been on the maiden and ther cruises we have been on but the actual routine has not changed one bit, adrian walsh is one that has not changed at all, so it will be nice to have a break.
The weather today, heading to Alicante has changed and the sea is rough, but they promise (mmmm) the weather tomorrow will be better, the Gibraltar and then the last leg home.
Half way through!!!!!!!
by Jon Mower on 11/16/10
Well, we are about half way through the trip so far, and it has been great, few hic-cups along the way. like the dreadful weather at the start, having to miss Malaga, nearly missing Venice yesterday, we were three hours late in arriving there due to very very thick fog, the harbour Master had closed the port so we were not allowed in.
However they did eventually open and off we went, it stayed foggy all day, and unfortuntely for us the Bridge of Sighs was partially covered in hoarding for reconstruction workd, but the Doges Palace, and St Marks Sq were brilliant, then the gondola ride, that was just awesome, we thoroughly enjoyed that, ignore the smell and all was good.
Now arriving at Dubrovnik, an hour late due to staying later yesterday in Venice, weather overcast but warm, weather back in blighty.... RUBBISH, glad we are here.
Two days in ad not going too well... LOL
by Jon Mower on 11/10/10
like it says, two days in and not too well, this our second cruise on the new QE has been dealt a blow, it was called GALE FORCE 9, and horrendous waves, and those that know me know my stomach went on strike and did not like it one little it bit.
The stop in Malaga has been canceled as we circled teh channel for ages awaiting teh wost of the weather to die down, and gale force 9 is nto worse, mmmmm, anyway, we are past Biscay now and steaming towards our next stop, cant wait.
I did not go to dinner last ight but Andy said teh restaurant was deserted, ad when he went to the theatre, that too was not too busy, too many dodgy tummys, wel thats it for now, off to take some more pictures ad video.
ONE WEEK HOME - ONE WEEK TO GO
by Jon Mower on 11/01/10
Yes, we have been home for a week from the brilliant maiden voyage of Queen Elizabeth, she was a brilliant liner, we are about sorted, nearly everything away and getting tidy again, once that is done, we need to start packing again ready for the next voyage on her, in one weeks time, cant wait, only been back to work for a few days and ready to get away again.
Hopefully by Tuesday 02/11/2010 i will have all the pictures up on the site, well not all we did take about 1,300 in total, but you will get a sample of the vessel and the dining experience as well as some of the trips out, once i have completed this i may add an extra page for some video footage we shot.
